The Central Bank of Chile's board has reappointed Pablo García González as alternate economist member of the Tribunal de Defensa de la Libre Competencia, or TDLC, for a further six-year term beginning after his current mandate expires on 18 June 2026. In the same decision, the board formed the three-person shortlists from which the President of the Republic will appoint a permanent economist member, a permanent lawyer member and an alternate lawyer member, following the expiry of the current terms of Ricardo Paredes Molina, Jaime Barahona Urzúa and Rafael Pastor Besoain. The shortlist for permanent economist member comprises María de la Luz Domper Rodríguez, Vicente Lagos Toro and Francisco Muñoz Núñez. The shortlist for permanent lawyer member comprises Francisco Agüero Vargas, Jaime Barahona Urzúa and Camilo Santelices Vergara. The shortlist for alternate lawyer member comprises Angélica Burmester Pinto, Marcelo Mardones Osorio and Rafael Pastor Besoain. The selection process followed a public call that ran from 30 January to 23 March 2026 and drew 48 applications, including 28 lawyers and 20 candidates with economics degrees or postgraduate training in economic sciences. An internal group of bank managers carried out an anonymized and independent preliminary review under the terms of the process, after which the board held private hearings with shortlisted candidates and sent the reappointment decision and shortlists to the Ministers of Economy and Finance and the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency for the presidential appointments to be made by Supreme Decree.
