The Reserve Bank of Australia reported that its balance sheet totaled AUD 347.57 billion at the close of business on Sept. 23, 2026, down AUD 9.14 billion over the week. The decline primarily reflected an AUD 11.11 billion reduction in Australian dollar investments, mainly due to securities transactions, partly offset by a transaction driven AUD 2.41 billion increase in gold and foreign exchange assets. On the liabilities side, deposits excluding Exchange Settlement balances fell AUD 26.30 billion, while Exchange Settlement balances rose AUD 12.75 billion and other liabilities increased AUD 4.03 billion. Australian notes on issue were broadly unchanged at AUD 108.67 billion.
