The Bermuda Ministry of Economy and Labour reported that construction investment increased 8.1% year over year in the first quarter of 2026. The estimated value of construction work completed rose 9.4% to BMD 45.6 million, while new projects started during the quarter were valued at BMD 60.3 million. Private sector construction increased 17.1% to BMD 20.8 million, and public sector construction rose 3.3% to BMD 24.7 million, its highest quarterly level since the first quarter of 2013. Industrial, plant and other projects were the largest category at BMD 11.9 million, followed by residential construction at BMD 11.4 million.
