The Ministry of Finance of Albania said Deputy Finance Minister Endrit Yzeiraj attended the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development annual meeting in Riga and used the event to underline the bank's role in Albania's economic development. The ministry said the EBRD has invested about EUR 2.5 billion in Albania since starting operations there in 1991, making it one of the country's main financial partners. The ministry highlighted EBRD financing for public infrastructure and its current role in the modernisation and redevelopment of Albanian railways. It also said 57% of the bank's portfolio in Albania is dedicated to the private sector. During the meeting, Yzeiraj invited representatives of shareholder countries and other participants to visit Tirana in 2028, when Albania is set to host the EBRD annual meeting.
