The European Commission reported that the EU and Montenegro have provisionally closed accession negotiations on economic and monetary policy, statistics, and social policy and employment. The outcome brings the number of provisionally closed chapters to 21 out of 33, all of which Montenegro has opened. Progress in aligning with and implementing the EU acquis will remain under review throughout the negotiations. The closures are not final until an overall agreement covering all chapters is reached, and the EU may reopen individual chapters if necessary.
