The New Brunswick Financial & Consumer Services Commission published an insurance notice confirming the annual indexation of the maximum amount recoverable for non-pecuniary loss for minor personal injuries arising from motor vehicle accidents, setting the 2026 cap at CAD 9,926.59. Under the Injury Regulation (N.B. Reg. 2003-20) made under the Insurance Act, the cap is adjusted in line with the rate of increase in the New Brunswick Consumer Price Index. The amount will rise by 2.1% from CAD 9,722.42 to CAD 9,926.59 and will apply to minor personal injuries from motor vehicle accidents that occur in New Brunswick on or after January 1, 2026; the notice also republishes historical caps by effective date back to 2003.
