The Hong Kong Monetary Authority published an alert from Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) identifying four fraudulent websites that imitate a buyer protection service for Faster Payment System (FPS) transactions. The sites, fpshkicl.lat, fpshkicl.xyz, fpshkicl.lol and fpshkicl.mom, falsely offer refunds, unauthorized transaction reporting and transaction support before directing users to fraudsters posing as customer service personnel. HKICL has no affiliation with the sites and does not ordinarily provide FPS services directly to individuals or proactively contact members of the public. It urged users to protect their personal information, verify suspicious communications and report suspected fraud to the police.
