The National Bank of Serbia published payment system statistics showing that online payments made with cards and electronic money rose 40.1% year on year in the first quarter of 2025 to 23.6 million transactions. Of these, 16.5 million were made on domestic websites and 7.1 million on foreign websites, while domestic online stores increased to 4,947 by end-March, up 21.1% from a year earlier. The dinar, euro and U.S. dollar accounted for 98.2% of online payments. Dinar-denominated purchases increased 43.4% to 16.5 million and their value rose 52.2% to RSD 48.5 billion, with dinar purchases representing 69.8% of all online transactions. For purchases on foreign websites, euro payments increased 65% to 5.0 million and their value rose 54.4% to EUR 205.3 million, while U.S. dollar purchases fell 17.9% to 1.7 million even as their value increased 21.8% to USD 58.2 million; the National Bank of Serbia noted that cash-on-delivery purchases are not included in the data.
