The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the cessation of unauthorised insurance intermediation carried out via three websites and has triggered their blocking in Italy. The sites named in the order are msmsoluzioniassicurative.it, agenziafiano.it and assicuramolinari.it. Blocking by internet service providers operating in Italy is under way and may take a few days for technical reasons. The cessation orders are published in IVASS’s “Let’s defend ourselves from scams” section, bringing the total number of websites targeted by IVASS blocking orders to 225 since the power began being used in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to exercise caution with insurance offers made online, by phone or via instant messaging, and to verify before paying premiums that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries by checking IVASS’s registers and lists, including the Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
