The Ukraine National Commission on Securities and Stock Market participated in a meeting of the Interagency Working Group on European Integration, where Ukrainian authorities briefed European Union representatives on steps already taken to align with EU standards and on measures planned by the end of the year to meet negotiation benchmarks. Commission member Maksym Libanov was part of the Ukrainian delegation. More than 30 representatives from the EU side attended, including members of the Council of the European Union working party on enlargement, the working party on Eastern Europe and Central Asia, delegates from member states, the European Commission and the European External Action Service. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka. EU representatives were particularly interested in the current stage of Ukraine’s anti-corruption reform and are awaiting adoption of the anti-corruption strategy. As background to the capital markets workstream, the Commission had said in mid-April that it needs to align 187 regulatory acts with EU rules and prepare 22 draft laws in the capital markets area.
