The Central Bank of Barbados announced that its Governor, Dr. Kevin Greenidge, has received the Order of Freedom of Barbados, described as the country’s highest honour, during the official ceremony marking Barbados’ 59th anniversary of Independence and its fourth year as a parliamentary republic. Governor Greenidge was recognised for “exceptional people-centred leadership” in economic policy and central banking, and for his role in guiding reforms under the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) programmes. The Bank linked the award to his leadership through critical economic reforms that it said strengthened financial stability and improved outcomes for Barbadians.
