The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that Deputy Chairman Ikromi Sirojiddin Salom participated virtually in a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting of finance ministers and central bank heads in Beijing, where member representatives adopted a decision to establish an SCO Development Bank. Chaired by China, the meeting discussed global political and macroeconomic conditions and regional cooperation on budget and finance, including creating an SCO financing platform and a network of SCO finance analytical centres, developing inclusive digital finance, and expanding the use of member states’ national currencies in trade, regional investment and mutual settlements. Participants also addressed measures to tackle cross-border monetary and credit challenges and discussed broader themes including security, peace and stability and socio-economic development; the SCO’s ten member states were listed as China, Russia, Belarus, Iran, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
