The Central Bank of Ecuador inaugurated two renovated galleries at its Coin Museum in Quito, expanding the permanent exhibition of Ecuador’s monetary, philatelic and historical heritage. The project upgraded display areas and introduced historical objects and interactive resources in the gallery explaining the central bank’s work and the Philately Gallery. The Philately Gallery, which holds more than 7,000 items, now permanently displays for the first time a collection donated by the family of Ecuadorian philatelist and academic César Molestina Oquendo. Other additions include seven Spanish colonial gold coins in denominations of 1, 2, 4 and 8 reales, a nonmonetary gold bar, commemorative coins, dollar coinage from 2000 and 2023, and materials documenting the bank’s activities from 1995 to 2025.
