The New Brunswick Financial & Consumer Services Commission published a compliance reminder for businesses and other entities that hold unclaimed monetary property, reinforcing obligations under New Brunswick’s Unclaimed Property Act to identify, report and remit eligible assets through the province’s Unclaimed Property Program. Holders are expected to review their financial records for items such as uncashed cheques, unpaid wages, overpayments and refunds that will become unclaimed at the end of 2025 or became unclaimed in any year since 2017. Prior to reporting and remitting, entities must attempt to notify owners of unclaimed property valued at CAD 100 or more three to six months before submitting their report. Annual reporting runs from January 1 through March 31 and submissions are made via FundsFinderNB.ca.
