The Governor of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands has been appointed vice chair of the Pacific Islands Regional Initiative following a leadership rotation endorsed by the initiative’s leaders. In the role, the central bank will support the regional financial inclusion work program and collaboration among Pacific central banks and financial regulators. At the leaders’ roundtable, the Governor also provided updates on the central bank’s planned nationwide Financial Services Demand Side Survey, Unified QR Code project and Digital Financial Literacy Hub. Other work covers inclusive green finance, financial literacy, financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, the National Payment System and preparations to roll out Bokolo Cash, the central bank’s digital currency initiative.
