The Australian Financial Complaints Authority has opened consultation on proposed Rule changes that would create a new jurisdiction for complaints under the Scams Prevention Framework. The changes advance preparations for AFCA to serve as the single external dispute resolution scheme for scam complaints from March 31, 2027, following its recent expansion of scam-related jurisdiction and onboarding of entities covered by the framework. The Rules must be amended to reflect the new legislative framework and govern how AFCA handles Scams Prevention Framework complaints. The consultation seeks input from AFCA members, regulated entities, consumers, consumer representatives and other stakeholders.
