The Bank of Greece released fourth-quarter 2024 statistics on compulsory and non-compulsory occupational pension funds, showing total assets increased by 3.3% compared with the previous quarter to EUR 2,508 million (up EUR 80 million). Deposits rose to EUR 73 million, increasing their share of assets to 2.9% from 2.7%. Holdings of debt securities grew to EUR 1,123 million, mainly reflecting net purchases of domestic securities partly offset by net sales of foreign securities, while their share declined to 44.8% from 45.6%. Investment fund shares increased to EUR 835 million, driven mainly by net purchases of foreign investment fund shares, lifting their share to 33.3% from 33.0%. Equity holdings rose to EUR 425 million, mainly due to valuation increases in foreign shares, and their share edged up to 17.0% from 16.8%. The next press release covering the first quarter of 2025 is scheduled for 12 June 2025.
