The Central Bank of Iraq reported that its Basra branch sponsored Financial Inclusion Week activities in the province under the theme of financial health as a path to sustainable and more stable financial inclusion. The update highlights public outreach on banking services and related facilities, with Basra branch director Amjad al-Asadi saying the 2026 programme will expand efforts to raise financial inclusion awareness among residents. Events were organised by the Iraqi Private Banks League and the Association of Islamic Banks. A fair at Times Square Mall included 36 public and private banks alongside 9 electronic payment companies, and a second exhibition at Basra Mall gardens also drew strong public attendance, with visitors engaging bank representatives on available banking services and products. The Basra programme ended on 30 April 2026 with a final event on Al-Farahidi Street.
