The Central Bank of Kuwait has announced the sixth round of its “Certified Shari’a Auditor” Program, aimed at enhancing Shari’a auditing governance across Kuwait’s Islamic banking sector. The initiative sits under the Kafa’a Initiative, created in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks. The programme is managed and executed by the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies and is positioned as a capacity-building pathway for Shari’a-compliant financial institutions. The Central Bank of Kuwait noted that the certification has become a prerequisite to practise Shari’a auditing for Central Bank of Kuwait- and Capital Markets Authority-regulated Islamic financial and banking institutions, aligning with the Central Bank of Kuwait’s 2016 instructions on the governance of Shari’a auditing in Kuwaiti Islamic banks and covering both Islamic finance theory and practical Shari’a audit application.
