The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced a webinar on “Demystifying Extended Confiscation” aimed at supporting countries to improve confiscation of criminal assets while incorporating safeguards to protect fundamental rights. The session forms part of FATF’s webinar series focused on implementation of the revised FATF Standards on asset recovery and on helping jurisdictions navigate the new requirements as they reform domestic frameworks. Scheduled for 9 October 2025 (13:00–14:10 CEST) with English delivery and French interpretation, the webinar will cover the definition of extended confiscation and related requirements in the revised Standards, practical examples from national implementation, and case studies highlighting successful use. It will also discuss how safeguards for fundamental rights can be designed into extended confiscation laws and applied in practice, with contributions from experts in academia, prosecution and asset management authorities. Participants can submit questions in advance through registration, and a recording will be made available after the event.
