The Central Bank of Bahrain convened and chaired the fifth meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council Central Bank Governors’ Committee in Manama, under Bahrain’s 2026 presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The committee’s work was framed as supporting the preparation of governors’ meetings and following up on the implementation of their decisions and recommendations. Discussions covered cooperation topics across GCC member countries, including recommendations from committees and working groups on payment systems, banking sector supervision and oversight, and financial technologies. The agenda also included the exchange of cybersecurity information for the banking sector and member states’ efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, with participation from preparatory committee representatives and the GCC General Secretariat.
