The note reiterates that its statistics follow European and international standards, guidelines and good practices, including the European System of Central Banks Public Commitment on European Statistics, and align with the International Statistical Institute’s Declaration on Professional Ethics. Under national and European rules, the Bank of Italy produces official statistics covering the banking system, financial markets, monetary and credit aggregates, the balance of payments, the international investment position, financial accounts, general government debt and borrowing requirements, and the payment system; it also runs sample surveys on households and firms. Statistics are disseminated through statistical publications, the Statistical Database, and the Research Data Center for microdata.
