Taiwan Financial Services Commission has approved BNP Paribas Taipei Branch to conduct financial products and services for high-asset customers under Taiwan’s framework for banks providing such services. The authorisation brings the number of banks approved for this business to 17. Approval was based on the branch’s plans covering talent development and allocation, product research and development, customer investment risk management, and supporting resources and information systems, as well as its implementation of a Certified Private Banker Program to strengthen staff expertise. The commission also referenced its regulations issued in 2020 and amended in March 2025, which opened this business to all banks and introduced phased relaxations for specific activities. The commission indicated it will continue to advance wealth management business by easing regulatory restrictions alongside corresponding supervisory measures, with an emphasis on encouraging financial institutions to invest in professional capability-building and systems.
