The People’s Bank of China announced it will begin issuing a set of commemorative coins from 3 September 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The set comprises four coins, including one bimetallic commemorative coin and three precious metal coins, all designated as legal tender of the People’s Republic of China. The bimetallic coin has a denomination of CNY 10, a diameter of 27 mm, and an issuance volume of 80 million pieces, and will be distributed via a reservation-and-exchange mechanism; it is stated to have the same functions as circulating renminbi and to circulate at par with other CNY 10 banknotes and coins. The precious metal issues are proof coins: an 8 g gold coin (CNY 100, 22 mm, 99.9% fineness, maximum mintage 10,000), a 150 g silver coin (CNY 50, 70 mm, 99.9% fineness, maximum mintage 5,000), and a 30 g silver coin (CNY 10, 40 mm, 99.9% fineness, maximum mintage 20,000). The gold and silver coins will be minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd. and distributed by China Gold Coin Group Co., Ltd. Detailed operational arrangements for the reservation and exchange of the bimetallic coin, provincial allocation quantities, and public anti-counterfeiting features are set out in accompanying annexes, while sales channels for the precious metal coins are provided through China Gold Coin’s official platforms.
