The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance reported that Superintendent Guillermo Plate represented Argentina at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors' Implementation and Assessment Committee and Standards and Supervision Committee meetings in Basel on 19 and 20 May 2026. The participation extends the agency's international role, with permanent representation on the Implementation and Assessment Committee since 2018 and a recent addition to the Standards and Supervision Committee under the IAIS committee structure approved in Tirana in November 2025. The meetings covered core international regulatory topics including risk-based solvency, climate risks and protection gaps, operational resilience, inclusive insurance, and the implementation of standards and supervisory support tools for emerging markets. In his capacity as President of the Association of Latin American Insurance Supervisors, Plate also held bilateral meetings with other international supervisory authorities to advance priority issues for emerging and developing insurance markets in Latin America.

Argentina Superintendency of Insurance expands its IAIS role through new standards committee participation and Basel meetings
The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance reported that Superintendent Guillermo Plate represented Argentina at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors’ Implementation and Assessment Committee and Standards and Supervision Committee meetings in Basel on 19–20 May 2026, consolidating its permanent role in the former and recent membership in the latter. Discussions covered risk-based solvency, climate risks, protection gaps, operational resilience, inclusive insurance, and implementation of standards and supervisory tools for emerging markets. Plate also used his role as President of the Association of Latin American Insurance Supervisors to pursue bilateral engagements on priorities for Latin American emerging and developing markets.
