The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority participated in a Ministry of Health-convened working session on implementing Universal Health Insurance (UHI), bringing together stakeholders including the Association of Private Health Service Providers Owners (APHTA) in Dar es Salaam. Chaired by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Dr Seif Shekilaghe and attended by institutions including NHIF, UNDP and GIZ, the session discussed how different stakeholders would contribute to expanding access to quality healthcare. TIRA used the forum to set out its supervisory responsibilities and the relevant legal and regulatory framework, while APHTA provided inputs aimed at cooperating with the Government and the Ministry invited further stakeholder feedback on UHI implementation.
