The Central Bank of Uruguay has announced that economist Ana Claudia de los Heros has assumed the Vice Presidency of the Central Bank’s Board. The appointment was marked by a formal ceremony attended by Central Bank President Guillermo Tolosa, outgoing Vice President Martín Inthamoussu, and other officials and representatives from the financial industry. In her remarks, de los Heros set out priorities including meeting the inflation target, ensuring regulation is adapted to the country’s needs, and maintaining agile supervision to protect savings, alongside progress on accessibility, interoperability and agility to support an open and reliable financial system. De los Heros has worked at the Central Bank since 1999, including as head of the Payments System Management, and previously worked at Banco República.
