Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users reported that it handled 18,073 complaints in the State of Mexico from January through July 2026, an 11.3% increase from the previous year and 11.3% of the national total. Concluded complaints resulted in MXN 106.7 million recovered for users, while 38.4% of outcomes were favorable to users. The banking sector accounted for 67.4% of complaints, followed by insurers at 12.6% and unregulated multiple-purpose financial companies at 9%. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans were linked to 60.4% of cases, while 29.7% involved potential fraud through unrecognized purchases or electronic transfers. Electronic management was used for 57% of complaints, and improper debt collection practices represented 27.1%.
