The Central Bank of Iceland will continue its regular foreign currency purchases in the interbank market through November 30, 2026, while reducing the weekly amount from EUR 12 million to EUR 6 million beginning October 16. The purchases will comprise EUR 3 million transactions shortly after the market opens on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The program is intended to meet the Treasury’s ordinary foreign currency needs and maintain the central bank’s international reserves. The bank will review the need for regular purchases as circumstances require and may conduct separate foreign exchange interventions to mitigate short term exchange rate volatility under its existing policy.
