The Superintendency of Banks of Panama presented a request to the National Assembly’s Budget Committee for a USD 1,258,995 supplemental budget allocation to address operational and technology needs identified during the execution of its 2026 budget. The request would be financed entirely from the authority’s current revenue surplus, primarily generated by higher bank inspection fees implemented for 2026, without funding from the National Treasury. Of the requested amount, USD 874,691 would fund workspace modifications, technology equipment and furniture, and the replacement of computer equipment. The remaining USD 384,304 would reinforce operating expenditure for leases and data transmission services. Revenue collections have reached 104% of the budgeted amount and are projected to end the year at about 107%, which the authority expects will cover the request.
