The Central Bank of the UAE, in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, has launched digital bank account opening services through the Tourist Identity initiative. The service allows non-resident visitors to open digital bank accounts instantly and securely using the Tourist Identity. The Tourist Identity gives visitors a digital identity on arrival in the UAE, supported by biometrics and facial recognition developed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. Integration of that platform with ADCB’s mobile banking application enables a fully digital onboarding process, allowing visitors to open accounts within minutes and access services immediately, including digital debit cards for instant use. In remarks accompanying the launch, the Central Bank of the UAE said the initiative will connect visitors to the national payment ecosystem, including Jaywan and Aani.
