The Taiwan Financial Services Commission published April 2026 operating statistics for credit cards, cash cards and electronic payment institutions in Taiwan, showing modest growth in credit card and e-payment account numbers, higher credit card revolving balances, and stable to improving delinquency rates. Across 32 credit card issuers, effective cards reached 59.58 million and active cards 40.12 million, revolving credit rose to TWD 116.5 billion, monthly retail sales were TWD 415.9 billion, monthly write-offs were TWD 0.56 billion, and the delinquency ratio held at 0.23%. Cash card business involved 13 institutions and remained limited at 0.27 million effective cards and TWD 9.5 billion in loan balances, while monthly write-offs fell to TWD 20 million and the overall delinquency ratio improved to 0.912% from 0.972% in March. Electronic payments covered 10 specialized institutions and 19 operators with other businesses. Stored value cards totaled 202.38 million effective cards, with 13.64 million cards in use, TWD 6.35 billion in monthly retail sales and TWD 15.95 billion in stored value. Electronic payment accounts rose to 40.38 million users, with TWD 28.99 billion collected or paid as agent for transactions, TWD 15.85 billion in small-amount remittances, TWD 29.7 billion in stored value funds and TWD 19.04 billion in account balances.
