The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority published a new survey on household financial preparedness for disruptions to digital payments, finding that only two in five Swedes keep cash at home sufficient to cover at least a week of expenses if digital payment systems were knocked out. The authority reiterated public recommendations to maintain multiple payment and banking access options as part of a “resilient wallet”. Four in five respondents reported having more than one way to log in to their bank, and around half had a payment or credit card with more than one bank. Preparedness was weakest among people aged 30–50, with those aged 40–49 least likely to hold cash at home and six in ten in that group lacking a backup payment or credit card at another bank. The survey, conducted with Origo Group, covered more than 1,000 Swedes and was carried out in February 2025.
