The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force concluded a capacity building workshop in Kuwait with recommendations to strengthen financial crime detection and investigations, recover criminal proceeds and address technology related terrorist financing risks. The recommendations also call for stronger regional and international cooperation and closer information sharing between competent authorities and the private sector. Participants emphasized early fraud detection, parallel financial investigations and improved management of seized and confiscated assets. They also called for stronger mechanisms to trace and recover proceeds, including digital assets and virtual currencies, alongside updated red flags and greater use of data analytics, modern technologies and artificial intelligence. Certain workshop outcomes will contribute to the Financial Action Task Force’s 2026–2028 roadmap for combating fraud.
