Moldova’s National Commission for Financial Markets hosted a technical session on the European Union’s regulatory and supervisory framework for central securities depositories as part of Moldova’s EU accession and regulatory alignment process. Participants included the National Bank of Moldova, the Single Central Depository and entities connected to the depository. Experts from the Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority outlined the requirements of the EU Central Securities Depositories Regulation and Romania’s implementation experience. The session also examined findings from four assessment cycles of Romania’s Central Depository and forms part of a broader program that has produced legislative gap analyses and recommendations for improving Moldova’s framework.
