The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has alerted the public to press releases issued by banks on fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scams reported to it. Links to the relevant bank notices are available on the Hong Kong Monetary Authority website. It reminded the public that banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who has disclosed personal information or carried out financial transactions in response to the scams should contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force.
