The Bank of Italy received the Central Banking Award 2025 in the risk management category, recognising its development of new financial risk assessment methodologies and its improved analysis of firm creditworthiness that incorporates sustainability criteria. The Central Banking Awards, now in their 12th year, aim to recognise excellence in the central banking community amid inflationary pressures and rapid technological change. Governor Fabio Panetta linked the award to the Bank’s prudent, forward-looking risk management and to its role in supporting the financial system during crises when other market participants engage in widespread de-risking.
