South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance said it held its annual consultation with an Inter-American Development Bank delegation to review bilateral cooperation and define follow-up work. The talks focused on turning the AI Hub agreed this year into concrete cooperation and using the broader Korea-IDB package to support Korean companies and professionals entering Latin American markets. The Inter-American Development Bank said Korean funding has supported infrastructure, institutional improvement, digital, energy and innovation projects in the region, and identified wider use of artificial intelligence and a strategy to increase Korean staffing at the bank as areas for deeper cooperation. The ministry said Latin American demand in artificial intelligence, digital and energy is complementary to Korean firms' technology and financing capabilities. Both sides discussed future cooperation arrangements for identifying AI-related projects, along with broader cooperation on trust funds, co-financing, private investment and critical minerals, and agreed to work toward the Korea-Latin America Business Forum in Buenos Aires in November to advance Korean AI companies' entry into the region.
