The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) issued an alert to insurance intermediaries about a new online scam impersonating the authority, warning that emails sent from a spoofed address are fraudulent. An intermediary reported receiving a message requesting registration in the New RUI portal of a new internet domain supposedly “assigned for free”, which was later found to be a fake second-level address. IVASS advised intermediaries to report any similar communications promptly and not to follow the instructions, and to urgently remove from the New RUI register any websites registered through such messages where the intermediary is not the rightful owner, informing IVASS via its official channels.
