The Central Bank of Egypt has launched an “AI for FinTech” hackathon under its FinTech Egypt initiative, building on its Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to support youth and students participating in the Digital Egypt Builders Initiative, particularly in artificial intelligence and business analytics. The hackathon tasked students with converting real banking-sector challenges into digital solutions using AI, data analytics and advanced programming, and concluded with a graduation ceremony where teams presented their projects to a specialised panel of experts and decision-makers. The Central Bank linked the initiative to the “Talent Development” pillar of its FinTech and Innovation Strategy. Société Arabe Internationale de Banque indicated that winning teams will receive support to develop their projects in a professional banking environment alongside cash prizes, with runner-up awards and direct employment opportunities also offered.
