The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has published New Zealand Sign Language, Braille, Easy Read, audio and large-print versions of its Keeping Cash Local consultation and survey so disabled people and their communities can participate, and has released additional information in response to Official Information Act requests. It also extended the consultation deadline to 31 July 2026, while noting that no decisions have yet been made on the proposals. The consultation seeks views on local access to cash services, including withdrawing and depositing cash and exchanging cash for low-denomination banknotes and coins. More than 5,000 responses have been received so far. The newly published material adds to the proposal's legal basis information released in May 2026.
