The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) participated in the 3rd International (Re)Insurance Seminar in São Paulo, where Superintendent Alessandro Octaviani used the opening panel to outline the main changes introduced by Brazil’s new insurance contract legal framework under Law No. 15.040/2024. The session, themed “Insurance Legal Framework: Challenges and Opportunities”, also featured the President of the Brazilian Insurance Law Institute (IBDS), Ernesto Tzirulnik, and lawyer Julia Santoro Donato. Octaviani highlighted the law’s role in consumer protection and increasing transparency in insurance contracting, and pointed to its potential to reduce information asymmetries and support market growth. The wider seminar programme covered claims regulation, new technologies and artificial intelligence, surety insurance, geopolitical impacts on aviation and marine insurance, and the resolution of reinsurance disputes in the English market.
