The National Bank of Moldova announced that it will assume the presidency of the Banking Supervisors of Central and South Eastern Europe Group (BSCEE) from 16 December 2025, with vicegovernor Constantin Șchendra holding the mandate through 15 December 2026. The appointment follows a decision taken at the Group’s 37th annual conference in June in Ljubljana. BSCEE is a cooperation network founded in 1991 that brings together 24 banking supervisory authorities across Central and South Eastern Europe to support supervisory cooperation and exchange of experience; Șchendra highlighted the importance of closer coordination in the context of rapid technological change, rising cyber risks, and evolving financial markets. The National Bank of Moldova also signalled its willingness to host the next BSCEE annual conference in 2026.
