The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) marked an alumni gathering for the “Key operations in commercial bank management” training programme delivered with Luxembourg’s ATTF, with Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh indicating the SBV will continue to work with Luxembourg and ATTF to further improve programme quality and keep it as a priority international training initiative. Running since 2005, the programme has trained around 400 SBV staff to date and is positioned as building deeper technical expertise, modern governance approaches and the ability to apply international standards in banking practice, with many graduates moving into management roles at the SBV and credit institutions. The SBV highlighted the programme’s coverage of core bank governance topics, its link between theory and practice, and the role of the alumni network in knowledge sharing across the banking system, while Luxembourg’s Ambassador Patrick Hemmer pointed to opportunities for deeper cooperation in areas including specialised finance, sustainable finance, capital market development and capacity building. The SBV also signalled plans to further strengthen the alumni network as part of ongoing cooperation with Luxembourg and ATTF.
