The National Bank of Moldova released banking-system statistics on cash operations for January–June 2025, showing cumulative cash disbursements from bank cash desks of MDL 88,834.3 million exceeded cumulative cash receipts of MDL 86,450.4 million by MDL 2,383.9 million. Both inflows and outflows increased compared with the same period of the previous year, with receipts up 5.5% and disbursements up 5.9%. Receipts rose mainly due to higher cash takings from consumer goods sales (MDL 49,614.7 million, 57.4% of total receipts, up MDL 2,326.6 million) and larger cash inflows to individuals’ current and deposit accounts (up MDL 1,356.2 million, +17.9%), partly offset by lower receipts from other services (down MDL 205.5 million, -3.1%). The increase in disbursements was driven chiefly by cash paid out to purchase foreign currency from individuals (MDL 20,523.8 million, EUR 1,052.6 million equivalent, 23.1% of total disbursements, up MDL 3,715.5 million), alongside higher ATM withdrawals (up MDL 1,412.5 million, +3.8%) and cash loans to individuals (up MDL 576.6 million, +29.5%), while disbursements for other purposes declined by MDL 1,027.9 million (-9.2%).
