The European Central Bank reported total assets and liabilities of EUR 5.912 trillion as of Sept. 4, a net decline of EUR 3.164 billion from the previous week due to transactions. Monetary policy lending to euro area credit institutions fell by EUR 4.252 billion to EUR 28.176 billion, while securities held for monetary policy purposes declined by EUR 2.576 billion to EUR 3.361 trillion. On the liabilities side, balances related to monetary policy operations increased by EUR 9.639 billion to EUR 2.333 trillion. Current account holdings rose by EUR 10.315 billion, partly offset by a EUR 676 million decline in the deposit facility, while euro denominated liabilities to non-euro area residents fell by EUR 12.226 billion.
