The Central Bank of Peru reported that nationwide formal employment increased 4.2% year over year in June 2026, adding 251,000 jobs from June 2025. The growth rate remained broadly in line with recent months. Private sector formal employment rose 5.6%, slightly above the 5.4% increase recorded in May. Services added 99,000 jobs, agriculture 49,000 and commerce 43,000. Mining and agriculture recorded the strongest annual growth rates at 12.4% and 11.9%, respectively, although mining contributed a smaller 17,000 jobs.
