The Reserve Bank of Fiji has approved the issuance of a general insurance licence to AMA Insurance Company Limited after it met the licensing requirements under section 25 of the Insurance Act 1998. AMA is a subsidiary of Apia Insurance Company Limited in Western Samoa. The Reserve Bank of Fiji expects AMA’s entry to broaden underwriting capacity and claims administration services in Fiji and support the availability of additional insurance products and risk management solutions. The licence brings the number of licensed general insurers operating in Fiji to eight.
