The National Bank of Bulgaria’s Governing Council has agreed that BORICA AD may cease its activity as operator of BISERA6, the payment system for customer transfers in BGN, effective 1 January 2026 in connection with the introduction of the euro as legal tender in Bulgaria. From that date, BORICA’s licence to operate BISERA6 will be invalidated. BORICA has put in place an organisation and cessation plan intended to avoid endangering the financial stability of system participants and to ensure the complete and timely fulfilment of obligations arising from payment operations processed through BISERA6.

The National Bank of Bulgaria's Governing Council has approved BORICA AD's cessation as operator of BISERA6, the BGN payment system, effective 1 January 2026, due to the euro's introduction as legal tender. BORICA's licence will be invalidated, and a cessation plan is in place to maintain financial stability and fulfill obligations.
