The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision has ordered the blocking of two websites that were offering insurance services illegally. The action covers the cmb-assicurazioni.it domain and the preventivi.unipolsaiassitirreno.it domain, including their www versions. The blocking is being carried out by providers operating in Italy and may take several days to become effective for technical reasons. IVASS said the total number of abusive sites it has ordered blocked since it began exercising this power in November 2023 has reached 374. It also warned consumers to be cautious of policy offers made through instant messaging services such as WhatsApp or text message, of requests for payment via prepaid credit cards, and of websites not included in IVASS's official lists of supervised insurance intermediaries and insurance companies.
